Mini Lesson # 5
Leah is now
married, but something is terribly wrong.
The man she married has just realized that he has been tricked into
marrying the wrong woman and he is not happy. (The trickster has been tricked …
in Genesis 27, Jacob tricked his father into thinking he was his twin brother
Esau in order to get the ‘first-born’ blessing.
Scripture doesn’t tell us that Laban’s trickery of Jacob was a painful
reminder to him of how he had tricked his father, but human nature tells us it
was.)
Deep inside Leah
must have felt a jab of rejection at Jacob’s reaction, do you think she
comforted herself with the idea that he would come to love her as she loved
him?
Jacob, outraged
at the trick that had been played on him, sets out to confront Laban. Laban, when confronted, gives Jacob the
reason for his actions. What was it?
Laban, not only
has a reason for his deceptive actions, but he also has a solution, what is his
solution?
To be continued …
