Lesson # 12
Genesis
30:22 tells us that God remembered Rachel and
opened her womb. She soon conceived and bore a son
whom
she named Joseph. It is well
documented in later passages
of Scripture that Joseph was Jacob's favorite
son, why?
How do you think
Leah felt knowing that Rachel's son and
not any of hers was Jacob's favorite?
Do you think it
sharpened the rivalry and jealousy that
existed between the sisters?
Even though Leah
and Rachel were involved in bitter
competition with each other for Jacob's
affections there
were times when
they came together for a common cause.
Genesis 31: 14-15 gives us one of those times. In verse 14,
who is
him?
In verse 15, who
is him?
What is the
situation that has brought about Leah and
Rachel's rare agreement?
It would seem
from reading Genesis 31:14-16 that Leah and Rachel felt some resentment toward
their father Laban. Why?
