Over the years I've taught Bible classes for ages from cradle roll up through adult
women.
One of the age
groups that I'm currently teaching is 10 – 12 year olds and we are studying
the establishment of the church. I love
to see their interest and enthusiasm as I weave account after account together
of what early Christians did and went through as they strove to ‘go into all
the world and teach the gospel.’ The students comments of, ‘oh no, Mrs. Patsy, you
can’t stop there’ gives me fuel to keep on
keeping on. I pray that their enthusiasm
never dies.
In addition to weaving biblical accounts (And yes, we do use
our Bibles in class. It is important
that the students know that these accounts are what God’s Word says and not
what Mrs. Patsy says.), we also play Bible games, pray together about their
cares and concerns, do Bible memorization and in order to help them listen a
bit better during the sermon, each student leaves my class with this sermon
notes sheet and clipboard. They listen
to the sermon, fill out the sheet and give it back to me at the end of worship before
leaving the building. (We go over them
at the beginning of each class the following Sunday.)
You can find the sermons note sheet HERE!
