Day 89 of 365 Days of Sharing

Do we handle things with eternity in mind?  The life we live is going to determine where we spend eternity.

Day 86 of 365 Days of Sharing

Is our worth based upon what we have?

Our children?

Our jobs?

Our money?

Is it based upon who we are or is it based upon WHOSE we are?

Day 83 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Consider Your Ways?

Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, “Consider your ways! You have sown much, but harvest little; you eat, but there is not enough to be satisfied; you drink, but there is not enough to become drunk; you put on clothing, but no one is warm enough; and he who earns, earns wages to put into a purse with holes.”  Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Consider your ways!   Haggai 1:5- 7   (NASB)

Consider my ways?  Hmmm ... now this is something to think about!

Day 82 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Prayer

Those who fail to pray because they do not feel close to God may not feel close to God because they fail to pray. You have to spend time with God. God gave each and everyone one of us free will. We all have a choice. God isn’t going to come busting in like gang busters to get us to spend time with Him. He leaves that ‘choice’ up to us. When I say ‘spending time’ that means reading your Bible, meditating on His word, and spending regular time in prayer with Him. He’s not going to hunt you down. He wants you to draw near to Him, to seek Him out.

Day 79 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Purpose of Prayer

The purpose of prayer is to get in step with God, not to manipulate or coerce Him into blessing personal plans.

Day 78 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Prayer

Prayer changes things … sometimes it changes us and sometimes it changes our circumstances.

Day 77 of 365 Days of Sharing ... a challenge

Are you up for a challenge???

Here you go ...

Challenge: Ask God to bring to your mind any sin that He sees in your life. (Psalm 139: 23-24) It is a humbling experience. After you’ve made things right with God, ask the Lord to bring to your mind anyone you need to seek forgiveness from. Oh, now that is really hard to do. It’s one thing to confess to God, in the privacy of our hearts and minds, but to have to go to someone and admit wrong doing … well that’s a different story. If we are going to be pleasing to God though we must swallow our pride and proceed (Ephesians 4:1-4).

Day 76 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Our Lord Cares

For Those Times When We Need This Reminder …

Scripture:   The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and His ears are open to their cry. Psalm34:15

I’m Noticing About this Scripture: (1) that the Lord is aware (2) that He is ready to hear (3) that He is on constant standby

I’m Thinking:  (1) that it is so encouraging to know that God is looking out for those who are His (2) it makes me glad to be among the righteous  (note to self:  being righteous does not mean being perfect)

Word Definitions from this Scripture:
            Toward:  in the direction
Righteous:   acting in accord with divine or moral law
Open:   allowing access, passage or a view through
Cry:  to utter sounds especially of lamentation, grief or suffering usually with tears

In my own words:  The Lord is mindful of those who obey Him and He stands ready to hear their problems and sufferings.

Take Away:  Our Lord cares!

Additional Thoughts:  The very knowledge that our Lord cares, that He is ready and waiting to hear our cry brings great comfort.  It makes me love Him more.  May we ever be encouraged by this passage during times of trails and temptations.

Day 75 of 365 Days of Sharing ...Gratitude

Our gratitude to the Lord for what he has done for us should motivate us to serve Him!

Day 74 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Modesty

As Christians, we should take care that our appearance does not distract from Christianity!  We do not want our appearance to make a mockery of the Word of God.

Day 72 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Spiritual Wisdom

Do you know someone who is struggling with a spiritual issue?

Do you feel helpless and at a loss as to what to do?

Pray for spiritual wisdom for them and for you.

Day 71 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Our Void Spot!

Each of us is born with a void in our hearts that is God shaped and cannot be filled with things or anyone else!  It can only be filled with God, His Word and His Teachings.

How's your void spot?

Day 70 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Do You Know ...

... what the unpardonable sin is, otherwise known as blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?

We read about it in Matthew 12:30-32 and in Mark 3:29 ...

It is ...

An ongoing attitude of rebellion toward God ...

Willful rejection of God ...

A stubborness that resists and rejects the Holy Spirit ...

Any sin for which we will not repent.

If you are worried about committing the unpardonable sin, then you are not in any danger of committing it!

Day 67 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Parenting #2

If I were raising children again, I would do Bible story/games every night.  Yes, EVERY.NIGHT!

When they are small the story/games would be acting out the Bible story, singing Bible songs, playing Bible games, etc.  I would not expect them to sit and listen to a Bible story being read.

When they become readers I would make a game of finding books in the Bible, matching games that involved things like matching books of the Bible with their themes, memorizing Bible verses, asking 'what should we do' type questions as well as ethical type questions, etc.

When they are older readers I would introduce Bible scavenger hunt type activities and deepen the 'what should we do' and ethical type questions.  I would take everyday situations and show them how to use the Bible to find the solution, etc.  I would make it as interesting as I possibly could.

By the time they are high schoolers, we would be doing full fledged Bible studying and discussions. They would continue to memorize scripture and tackle real life situations from a biblical standpoint.  Again, I would make it as interesting as I possibly could.

This is just a small sample of the things I would do during Bible story/games each night.  On those nights when we were away from home or traveling we would do Bible story/game time in the vehicle.

Training our children for the Lord is so much more than just taking them to church 3 times a week and sending them to Bible camp every summer.  The responsibility for teaching children lies squarely on the shoulders of their parents.  Oh, that parents would take this responsibilty seriously!

Day 66 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Parenting

Over the next few days and whenever else I think of it, I'd like to share some ideas on the following topic ...

If I were raising children all over again, what would I do?

I would teach them that they can't and should not expect to always have what they want when they want it and I would do my best to instill the following truths in them ....

that as a child they are subject to their parents and anyone their parents leave them with, so they don't get to do what they want when they want ...

that when they start school they are subject to the rules and regulations of their teacher and school, so they don't get to do what they want when they want ...

that when they are old enough to hold down a job that they are subject to their employer, so they don't get to do what they want when they want ...

that when they marry they have to work with their spouse in a give and take relationship, so they don't get to do what they want when they want ...

that as an adult they are subject to the laws of the land, so they don't get to do what they want when they want ...

Never in a person's life should they think that just because they want something or want to do something, they should have it or be able to do it regardless.

I would take great care to instill these truths in them because once they understand that while they are an important part of the world, the world does not revolve around their wants and wishes, then and only then have you laid a solid foundation that all other truths can be built upon.

Day 65 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Fellowshipping with the Girls!

Today, a group of ladies from our congregation met to start a study using the book, The Begging Place by Becky Blackman.

I've been trying to find the words to sum up this first meeting and this is what I came up with ...

Sisters in Christ united with the common goal of spiritual growth ...

Sisters in Christ talking together ...

Sisters in Christ sharing together ...

Sisters in Christ listening to each other ...

Sisters in Christ enjoying a time of spiritual fellowship ...

Sisters in Christ growing in our prayer lives ...

Sisters in Christ growing closer to each other ...

Sisters in Christ helping each other on their journey to heaven.

It was a great study and time of fellowship and I'm truly looking forward to the next time we get to meet!

Day 64 of 365 Days of Sharing ... Queen Esther Class!

I'm working on a special series of classes for the little girl's in our congregation.  It will take place June through August of this summer on Wednesday nights.  It will be for girls 5 - 9 years old and will be about Queen Esther.

Here's what I'm planning so far ...

I'm putting together an Esther coloring/activity book for each girl

Within that coloring/activity book will be memory verses to learn, songs to sing, rewards to earn and a project for them to complete.

I'm working on making a set of Esther paper dolls for each girl to help them learn the Esther story.

We will have a banquet during the last class along with a little program. The  mommies, daddies and grandparents will be invited.

Can you think of something else I can add to this series that will make learning about Esther fun for these girls?

Thanks!
